Dr. Melora E. Larson is payload engineer on the Europa Clipper mission and Group Supervisor of a team of Low Temperature engineers at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. She has worked on NASA missions since she was an undergraduate at Stanford University, where she received her B. S. with Honors in Physics. Her work-related highlights include getting to work inside the cargo bay of the Space Shuttle Columbia, helping with the cooling system for the Spitzer Space Telescope, and managing the Cooler for the James Webb Space Telescope. Dr. Larson earned her Ph.D in experimental low temperature physics from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and is currently President of the Cryogenic Society of America. She also has extensive experience creating costumes for her daughter Alexandra’s cosplay.
