Clarissa Do Ó is an astronomer and Ph.D. candidate at UC San Diego developing new instrumentation to study exoplanets — planets orbiting other stars. Originally from Brazil, she earned her B.S. in physics at the University of California, Santa Barbara and her M.S. on physics from UCSD. Her research includes studying the chaotic motion of planets, whether other systems of planets are stable, and how planets form around stars. She is a National Science Foundation Graduate Fellow and a San Diego Fellow, and has won both the Carol and George Lattimer Award for Graduate Excellence and the NASA ExoExplorers Award.
